Just weeks after winning a seeming reprieve from federal safety regulators, the world’s largest automaker may have delivered itself a serious, self-inflicted wound by ordering the recall of another 2.17 million vehicles to repair problems associated with so-called unintended acceleration.
Thursday’s news brings to 14 million the number of vehicles Toyota has recalled since late 2009 due to an unprecedented series of safety-related issues involving matters as diverse as faulty brakes and excessive corrosion. But no issue has been more extensive — nor generated as much concern among the public, media and regulators — as the issue of runaway Toyota products.
Unsold Prius sedans sit at a Toyota dealership in Frederick, Colo. The carmaker’s latest recall puts another dent in its reputation for building safe and highly reliable products, and it could force the automaker to ramp up sales incentives, analysts warn.

Land Rover Planning Diesel-Electric Plug-In Hybrid Range

Promising to worsen the fuel efficiency problem, Land Rover is set to unveil the Range_e, a diesel-electric plug-in hybrid version of the Range Rover Sport, at the Geneva auto show in early March.
Details on the truck are in short supply, but Land Rover says that the Range_e features the company’s 3.0-liter diesel V-6, paired with a plug-in parallel hybrid system. Although the company is promising that the Range_e includes four-wheel drive, it’s unclear whether both the electric and diesel motors route power through the ZF-supplied automatic transmission, or whether the system is more like Volvo’s diesel-electric plug-in hybrid concept also coming to Geneva, where the diesel powers two wheels and the electric motor is responsible for the other two. The Range_e will offer an electric-only range of 20 miles, and will pack a top speed—presumably using both powerplants—of roughly 120 mph.

Even if the Range_e does enter production, U.S. sales are unlikely, as the federalization costs would be dwarfed by low sales volume. That’s fine with us; we’ll be able to conserve hyphens.

New Kawasaki Er-6n Specs

Some riders like a fully faired sportbike, some don't. But nearly all riders agree Kawasaki's Ninja® 650R is a great, fun-to-ride middleweight motorcycle. The ER-6n simply leaves a little more of that torquey, rev-happy 650 twin's innovative inner beauty out where you can see it, revealing this soulful machine's mechanical purity of purpose. The ER-6n gets a vestigial flyscreen around its headlight / instrument pod, but for the most part the fairing of this "naked" style bike has gone bye-bye. This one's for riders who love the feel of being in the wind a particularly good thing if you mostly ride where the weather's hot. Otherwise, the ER-6n packs all the hardware and handling that's made it and its Ninja 650R brother such media darlings. And did we mention deleting the fairing also brings the price down substantially?

    Kawasaki ER6N vs Ducati Monster 696

    Membandingkan antara Kawasaki ER6N vs Ducati Monster 696 ibarat membandingkan antara Yakuza vs Mafia. Biasanya di dalam brandnya keduanya berasal dari kelas yang sama. Nyatanya tidak, karena di Kawasaki ER6N merupakan line up mid-end alias menengah, sebaliknya Monster 696 merupakan anak bontot di keluarga ducati. Namun ketika dibadingkan head to head bisa dibilang Ducati unggul disemua lini. Mulai dari performa (Tenaga, Torsi hingga power to weight ratio) ergonomis seperti bobot dan suspensi (Upside down) hingga piranti keselamatan yang sudah menggunakan Brembo Radial. Jika ingin mencari dimana Kawasaki ER6N bisa mengungguli Monster 696 maka ER6N akan unggul pada komparasi harga, dan pada komparasi ini memang sudah tradisi bahwa Ducati selalu “kalah” kalo bicara harga






    Pertempuran  kelas Moge, beda dengan kelas Konvensional
    Harga dan jaringan 3S nggak menjadi parameter kemenangan. Selera, Prestis, Performa dan Komunitas lagi lagi bermain. Itu sebabnya di Indonesia hanya beberapa line up dari setiap brand yang mampu berkibar. Balik lagi ke ER6N vs Monster 696, berdasarkan catetan mbah, sejak 2010 30% konsumen Ducati   adalah bekas pemakai Ninja 250R. Sedangkan lebih dari 50% pemakai Supersport – Superbike jepang yang aktif dalam komunitas resmi pernah menjadi biker Ninja 250R. Namun ironisnya diantara 4 line up favorit Supersport Jepang, Kawasaki ZX6-R merupakan yang paling kurang diminati. Tetapi Kasus yang berbeda akan dialami oleh ER6N. Dengan selisih sekitar 80 jeti dengan Ducati Monster 696 peluang ER6N untuk berkibar cukup besar, karena sudah rahasia umum banyak bikers moge mengkombinasikan antara brand Ducati dengan jepang, semisal Monster 696 dengan YZF R1 atau kenapa tidak 1198SP dengan ER6N … why not?

    Koenigsegg Agera The World's Most Expensive Cars


    MSRP: $1.5 million (estimated)
    Specs: Agera means "to act" in Swedish, and is also short for the Greek word Ageratos, which in ancient Greek means "ageless." The body of the car is made from carbon fiber and aluminum, with the shape and concept of the Koenigsegg CC created 15 years ago. It has a 910-horsepower 4.7-liter V8 engine that goes 0-100 in under 3.1 seconds, and its wheels generate a vortex to suck hot air away from the brakes. Fewer than 20 will be made each year.

    2011 Lexus LFA - 202 mph

    Lexus doesn't exactly spring to mind when thinking about incredible performance and jaw-dropping looks. We all know the Japanese brand can build high quality luxury vehicles of all shapes and sizes. But can Lexus actually take the fight to exotic cars? The Lexus LFA is the answer; and the result is a 202-mph supercar that looks like it jumped directly out of a video game. There is nothing subtle about the LFA, and not many soft edges to be found anywhere on the hyper-aggressive 2-door body. To keep weight down, the car is made out of three different types of lightweight carbon fiber. Not that the 560-bhp 4.8-liter V-10 engine mounted up front needs any extra help hurling the LFA down the road. Priced at $375,000, you could buy 11 Lexus IS sedans for the price of one LFA - and still have some cash left. Yet with only 500 scheduled to be built, the rarity and performance of the LFA ensure it legendary status amongst the sports car elite.

    And for those who really don't like to wait...

    The status that comes with owning one of the world's fastest cars isn't limited to only brand-new models. Just because you're lucky enough to afford one of the world's fastest exotic cars doesn't necessarily mean you'll manage to put one in your garage. Most of the cars on this list were sold out as soon as they were announced, usually in hushed tones, to well-heeled buyers. However, recently discontinued supercars, like the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and Lamborghini LP670 SV, might no longer be brand new, but still look phenomenal and easily exceed the 200-mph mark. The SLR McLaren can hit 207 mph, while the Lamborghini touches 209 mph.

    2011 Bentley Continental Supersports - 204mph

    The Bentley Continental Supersports is four-wheeled proof that refinement and luxury can go hand-in-hand with crushing performance. Despite weighing more than 5,000 pounds, and having a cabin that looks like it belongs in a Gulfstream business jet, the Continental Supersports can reach 204 mph. Credit the 621-hp turbocharged W-12 engine, which shares some of its mechanical lineage to the monster motor found in the Bugatti Veyron (both Bentley and Bugatti are owned by Volkswagen). The Bentley Continental Supersports is, you guessed it, the most powerful Bentley ever produced. Driven sedately, the Continental wafts along in unsurpassed quiet and comfort. Push the gas pedal, and the acceleration knocks you back and deep into the car's hand-stitched leather seats. Permanent four-wheel-drive helps keep all this power under control, as does agile steering and a suspension that can be tuned to favor either comfort or sporty driving.

    2011 Ferrari 599 GTO - 208 mph


    Any Ferrari is special, but not all can exceed 208 mph - and even fewer wear the brand's fabled GTO badge. The name was made famous by the original and stunningly beautiful 250 GTO, built from 1962-1964. When one comes up for auction, an original GTO is guaranteed to sell for millions of dollars. So consider the $450,000 you'll pay for the new 2011 Ferrari 599GTO a veritable bargain - at least compared to its classic predecessor. The new model's 661-hp 6-liter V-12 makes the 599 GTO the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever. Give it enough open road and the 599 GTO should exceed 208 mph, according to Ferrari. Being an Italian supercar, it looks quick even when standing still. Based on the 599 GTB, the GTO is 220 pounds lighter, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, including thinner glass than the standard car.
